Minna is selected for mentoring programme

Not that I am busy enough but I decided to open up a pop-up shop in Helsinki, Finland November 20th and 21st. With a little help of some good old friends we foundthe most amazing boutique location in Central of Helsinki. There is no way I could have done this without my friends who have been so amazing helping me to put this event together. Thanks guys!
To make things more exciting, I have been selected to a mentoring programme organised by the British Fashion Council. My mentor is the fashion genius Yasmine Sewell who is the Creative Director of Liberty Department store in London. To add more pressure, she was one the best dressed women in the UK selected by Harpers Bazaar!!!!! After just meeting her for 2 hours, my head is buzzing with new ideas for my next collection.

Minna is organising shopping event with boutique Emily Evans

Just when I think things cannot get any busier, I find myself organising a shopping day with my favourite boutique just off Fulham Road. Boutique owner Emily Evans is a busy mom herself and have just launched a concession at Harrods. She has amazing eye buying stylish clothing for mothers-to-be. Her own maternity range is flying off the shelves at Harrods and she has also picked up lot of pieces from my collection that are perfect to wear through out the pregnancy and beyond.

Things have been a bit quiet (for a good reason) with the children's collection but now it is all happening. Super cool shop called Wolf& Badger is opening its doors in February and the new Kristiina collection will be sold exclusively in there. Think beautiful silk and lace dresses embellished with antique buttons. Adorable jackets made from vintage fabrics. Stunning jewellery and hair accessories that you are begging to wear yourself.

February seem such a long way to go, so I have teamed up with Emily to host a shopping day at her boutique where customers can bring their own fabrics, or use my fabrics to order custom made jackets for little fashionistas. Our range is for 1-5 years olds. I can't think of a better way of recycling stunning old fabrics and make them into something that you will always keep.

This event takes place November the 5th, between 11-18.00 at Boutique Emily Evans, 8 Hollywood rd SW1 9HY. For any queries, drop me an email.
I have been busy decorating our house. It seems like a never ending project. I have to get everything ready for a shoot that is taking place in our house in 2 weeks time! Heelp!
To update the look, I bought some lovely pieces from Ebay for tenner! Yes, I am a real recessionista and love nothing more than a good old bargain!
If you have any spare cash to spend I recommend you to check out one of my favourite neighbourhood shops owned by Josephine Ryan Her stunning shop is filled with antiques that makes you want to move to Southern France. She is closing her shop at the end of the month. Do not expect a bargain as everything is very expensive. The shop itself is so inspirational and you just want to buy everything, so you have been warned!

Minna in Olivia magazine

Saturday, 4 July 2009

Despite the stunning weather, we have been in an Autumn/Winter mood. I already can't wait to start wearing my winter collection! My absolute favourites are Olivia dress made from lace/wool mix and Tabitha top, which is the most gorgous top ever. Embellished with old antique lace against the softest and delicate lace netting, it is the perfect top to wear next season.
I also put my daughter Kristiina and her best friend Florence to model the Autumn/Winter collection. They looked so adorable wearing the next collection, but I bet they would have rather gone to the park to have a good old play. With the power of ice-cream these two rocked the collection and the shoot, which was filmed for a TV show, lasted mere 30 minutes.
Because of the weather I have been finishing our next collection. As I am a full-time mummy these days, my brain capacity has shrunk 70% from my good old au pair days. Talking about au pair, I must get another one after holiday, as things are getting crazy busy.
Despite my shrinking brain capacity and growing to-do-list, I managed to add my Autumn/Winter on the website. All items will be added online middle of August (after my well deserved break). Lots of new stunning prints for Maria dress, gorgeous accessories, see the picture and few additions to our home range......

Kristiina range in Junior magazine

new stock at Koh Samui in Monmouth Street, Covent Garden

Rather than enjoying the beautiful weather (very rear these days in the UK) I have been spending rather too much time indoors with Kristiina. She had the nastiest heat rash (or that what the doctor said...) and had to be kept indoors. On top of that Hayden decided to get ill so he kept us up during the nigh emptying his stomack all over the house, including all over me....
It did not help that I have had so much to do, with lots of order , Maria dress made from vintage fabrics being the best seller. On top of that I have been finishing my order to Koh Samui and spent all morning speed embellishing (meaning that Hayden is sleeping and I only have precious few hours, if I am lucky, before he wakes up) the garments. See above some decorations for Jasmine dress.
It sounds lame but I get so attached to my dresses that when I have finished decorating them, I just want to keep them. I need to toughen up as her little majesty is starting school this Autumn and then I seriously need to sell, sell and sell to cover her school fees! Time to move back to Finland!
